I really suck at the whole work/life balance thing. I work more than 40 hours per week, with few exceptions. On weeknights, by the time I leave work, sit in traffic to pick Zoe up at daycare, come home and help Zach with homework, figure out what to serve for dinner/go to Scouts, etc...I am exhausted. Therefore, I do almost no housework during the week, and on the weekends, have to decide between doing something fun with the kids or cleaning/laundry/grocery shopping. There has to be a better way to do this. I don't exercise, don't really socialize, and have no hobbies beside reading. I miss doing things with friends and scrapbooking. Summer starts for the kids in a couple of weeks, and we are going to have babysitter at our house, so at least I won't have to feel guilty about the kids being in daycare all day. They will be able to walk to the neighborhood pool, and Zach will still be able to play with his friends in the neighborhood. Plus, it will save me a 30-minute round trip drive in the evenings, and I will be able to have lunch with the kids on most weekdays. That will be really nice! We are also hoping to take a cruise this summer. We haven't booked yet, but for now, we are planning to take the same Carnival cruise out of New Orleans on the Conquest that Darren and I took eight years ago. This time, we'll have the kids, so I suspect there will be less relaxing, but it will be our first vacation with just our little family. I can't wait! Zach moved up to Boy Scouts in February, and we are having such a good time with it. The troop we joined has a lot of parent involvement, and we were made to feel very welcome. Zach really enjoys it, and has made a lot of good friends. He is going off to camp for a week in June with the boys; that makes me nervous, but I think he will have a wonderful time. I will try my very best to post some pictures soon; hopefully it won't be another 8 months before you hear from me again.
